MINUTES

Regular Meeting of the City Council

Monday, April 15, 2019

City Hall, Windmill Village

 

 

 

1.         CALL REGULAR MEETING TO ORDER

 

Mayor Keel called the Regular Meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

 

2.         ROLL CALL

 

Roll call was taken by the City Clerk as follows:

Staff Present:  City Manager Sugg, City Attorney Kaser and City Clerk Genetia.  

 

Lacking a quorum, the City Council was not able to conduct its business meeting.  However, Mayor Keel announced that he will allow the scheduled presentations, take public comments and hear the City Manager and Council comments/reports.    

 

3.         PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

 

Mayor Keel led Council in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

4.         PRESENTATIONS

 

Chambers Bay Resort Ground Lease Agreement – Don Anderson, Senior Counsel for the Office of the Pierce County Executive, presented information on the proposed Chambers Bay Hotel-Resort Ground Lease Agreement.  

 

Public Safety Advisory Commission Quarterly Report – Ed Wood, Chair of the Public Safety Advisory Commission, provided an update on the Commission’s education and visioning process and its plan to participate and look at the public safety perspective with regard to the Regional Growth Center Sub-Area Plan and the 2045 Vison process.

 

5.         PUBLIC COMMENTS – The following individuals provided comment:  Mary Chapman, 3805 Soundview Drive West; Kim Oman, 5813 Woodlake Drive West; and Dennis Flann, 2623 Lemons Beach Road.

 

6.         CITY MANAGER & COUNCIL COMMENTS/REPORTS

 

City Manager Sugg provided an update on the City Hall move.  He indicated that the offices were closed Monday to accommodate the unpacking of office essentials.  He also stated that the new Council Chambers will hopefully be completed by the next Council meeting in May.

 

Councilmember Worthington informed the public that Pierce County is hosting an egg hunt at Chambers Bay this Saturday.  He also talked about the Commissioner Ambassador training program. 

Mayor Pro-Tem Belleci announced upcoming community events by Dance Theatre Northwest and UP for Arts.

 

Mayor Keel highlighted upcoming agenda items.  With the City’s recent move to the new City Hall, Mayor Keel remarked on how the City has progressed over the years.

 

7.         ADJOURNMENT

 

The meeting adjourned at 7:45  p.m.  No other action was taken.
