RESOLUTION NO. 738
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY PLACE, WASHINGTON, ESTABLISHING THE PERMANENT NAMES OF THREE OF THE CITY’S PARKS
WHEREAS, on May 17, 2010, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 644, establishing the policy and the procedure for designation of City Place names, amending Resolution NO. 325; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 644 directed the University Place Parks and Recreation Commission (PARC) to make recommendations for the naming of all City of University Place parks, recreation areas and facilities to the University Place City Council for adoption; and
WHEREAS, on September 24, 2012, the Parks and Recreation Commission submitted a recommendation of park names resulting from a public solicitation process conducted by the Parks and Recreation Commission; and
WHEREAS, RCW gives the City Council full authority to name or rename public streets within the city by ordinance. And whereas, the City Council as the governing body and property owner is also empowered to name city-owned places by motion or resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY PLACE, WASHINGTON, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Adoption of Park Names. The following park properties shall be named as follows:
a) Park property located on the 3700 block of Brookside as “Brookside Park”;
b) Park property located at 3124 – 67th Avenue West as “Paradise Pond Park”; and
c) Park property located on the southeast corner of Cirque Drive West and Alameda Avenue West as “Creekside Park”.
Section 2. Effective Date. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption by the City Council.
