RESOLUTION NO. 799
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY PLACE, WASHINGTON SUPPORTING OF THE ASSOCIATION OF WASHINGTON CITIES “OPERATION: STRONG CITIES” LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY INITIATIVE
WHEREAS, the strength of our City is directly related to the decisions made by our legislators at the State level, and when cities are strong, the State is strong; and
WHEREAS, as local elected officials, the City Council is the conduit to emphasize the connection between our State legislators and our community, and create an understanding of the consequences and impacts of the decisions of State legislators on our City and residents; and
WHEREAS, the City is a member of the Association of Washington Cities (AWC) and “Operation: Strong Cities” is a multi-faceted effort by AWC to mobilize the city officials of Washington’s 281 cities and towns to engage, and hold our State legislators accountable, in order to create and uphold a strong partnership between the State and its cities and towns; and
WHEREAS, the City Council now desires to take an official position in strong support of AWC’s “Operation: Strong Cities” legislative advocacy initiative;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY PLACE, WASHINGTON, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. City Support Approved. The City Council hereby expresses its strong support of AWC’s “Operation: Strong Cities” legislative advocacy initiative.
Section 2. Effective Date. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption by the City Council.
