RESOLUTION NO. 828
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY PLACE, WASHINGTON, ADOPTING THE 2017 PLANNING COMMISSION PRELIMINARY WORK PLAN
WHEREAS, the City Council established and appointed the Planning Commission to advise the City Council on the following topics: growth management; general land use and transportation planning; long range capital improvement plans; and other matters as directed by the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission is charged with reviewing and holding hearings on proposed development regulations for the City and making recommendations to the City Council on amendments to those regulations; and
WHEREAS, the Revised Code of Washington 36.70A.040 requires the City to adopt development regulations which are consistent with and implement the Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Council Rules, directives to the City’s Commissions including the Planning Commission are to be in the form of a City Council Resolution, and
WHEREAS, each year the City Council adopts an Annual Preliminary Planning Commission Work Plan directing the Planning Commission to review and recommend plan and development regulation amendments, and
WHEREAS, by City Council Resolution 791 the City Council directed the Planning Commission to review and recommend amendments to the City's Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Code to include broad categories of land use designations within which several districts could be located rather than having a particular land use designation linked to each zoning district as it is today, and
WHEREAS, in 2017 the Planning Commission continues work on marijuana uses directed by the City Council in accordance with Resolution 817, and
WHEREAS, by City Council Resolution 819 the City Council directed the Planning Commission to review and recommend amendments to the Sign Code regarding changing message signs, and
WHEREAS, by City Council Resolution 821 the City Council directed the Planning Commission to review two parcels of property on the southwest corner of 54th Street West and Bridgeport Way and recommend amendments to the Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Maps to allow commercial use, and
WHEREAS, by City Council Resolution 804 the City Council directed the Regional Growth Center Subarea Plan Ad-Hoc Advisory Committee to provide recommendations to the Planning Commission regarding a University Place Regional Growth Center Subarea Plan, and
WHEREAS, the City has received a privately initiated application for a Zoning Code Text Amendment to allow single family uses in the Neighborhood Commercial Zone, and
WHEREAS, the foregoing work items included in the 2017 Annual Preliminary Planning Commission Work Plan attached hereto as Exhibit A have been studied by the City Council on January 17, 2017;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY PLACE, WASHINGTON, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Adoption of the 2017 Annual Preliminary Planning Commission Work Plan. The City Council directs the Planning Commission to review and make recommendations regarding those items listed in the 2017 Annual Preliminary Planning Commission Work Plan attached hereto as Exhibit A.
Section 2. Effective Date. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
