RESOLUTION NO. 866
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY PLACE ESTABLISHING A COUNCIL SUBCOMMITTEE TO DEVELOP A COMMUNITY VISION
WHEREAS, the City of University Place was incorporated on August 31, 1995; and
WHEREAS, as the City approaches its 25th Anniversary in August 2020 it has much, in the way of successes to celebrate; and
WHEREAS, the Council has recognized, among its goals for the 2019-2020 biennium, that the City’s 25th Anniversary should also serve as a foundation to identify future needs/expectations in a process which involves University Place residents in a meaningful way to recraft the community vision for the next long-term planning horizon; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF UNIVERSITY PLACE, WASHINGTON, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Incorporation. The recitals are hereby incorporated herein as if set forth in full.
Section 2. Establishment and Mission of the University Place City Council 25th Anniversary Celebration Subcommittee. The University Place City Council Community Vision Planning Subcommittee is established to investigate, plan, organize and develop a community vision for the next 20 years.
Section 3. Appointment of Subcommittee. Mayor Keel, Councilmembers McClusky and Worthington are appointed to the Subcommittee. The Subcommittee shall appoint one or more of its members as chair, or co-chairs as the case may be. The Subcommittee may choose to enlist the efforts and input of representatives of City boards and commissions, local business associations, and others as they deem appropriate. Relations between the Subcommittee and City staff will go through the City Manager. Nothing contained in this Section, however, shall be construed as a waiver of the City’s usual purchasing and contracting policies and procedures.
Section 4. Effective Date. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption by the City Council.
