RESOLUTION NO. 869
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY PLACE, AWARDING AND APPROVING CONTRACTS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE DREXLER POLICE OFFICES PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City of University Place constructed the Civic Building with construction complete in 2011. Since construction was complete, the City has housed the University Place Detachment of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office; and
WHEREAS, when the Civic Building was originally constructed, the City reserved development rights along Drexler Drive in which it had been considered to site a police station; and
WHEREAS, on May 21, 2018, the City Council authorized the advertisement for bids for construction of the Drexler Police Offices Project in the University Place Civic Building; and
WHEREAS, in order to complete the Drexler Police Offices Project, it will be necessary to award a number of contracts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY PLACE, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Bid Award. The City Council hereby approves the award of a contract to Pease Construction in the amount of $2,066,362.00 in substantially the form on file with the City Clerk with such changes as may be approved by the City Attorney for the construction of the Drexler Police Offices Project.
Section 2. Approval of Additional Contracts. The City Council approves of the execution of agreements, in such a form as may be approved by the City Attorney, for the following items from the following vendors:
a. with “Workpointe,” a contract or purchase agreement, in the amount of $87,848.21 for Modular wall systems, furniture & equipment, including installation; and
b. with “AustinCina,” an amendment to the City of University Place’s existing contract for construction administration, project closeout and other related tasks in the additional amount of $79,078.00. This amendment may also address tasks undertaken in the contemporaneously-considered Resolution addressing the City Hall Tenant Improvements Project.
Section 3. Execution of Documents. The City Manager or designee is authorized to take and execute any additional measures or documents that may be necessary to complete the transactions identified herein and to implement this Resolution, which are consistent with the terms of this Resolution.
Section 4. Severability. If any portion of this Resolution or its application to any person or circumstances is held invalid, the remainder of the Resolution or the application of the provision to other persons or circumstances shall not be affected.
Section 5. Legislation Effective Date. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
