RESOLUTION NO. 893
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY PLACE, WASHINGTON, REGARDING PROCEDURES FOR NOTIFYING THE PUBLIC OF UPCOMING HEARINGS AND THE PRELIMINARY AGENDA FOR FORTHCOMING COUNCIL MEETINGS
WHEREAS, RCW 35A.12.160 requires every code city to establish a procedure for notifying the public of upcoming hearings and the preliminary agenda for forthcoming Council meetings; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 533 sets forth the procedures for such public notifications; and
WHEREAS, the processes should be changed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF UNIVERSITY PLACE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Resolution No. 533 Repealed. Resolution No. 533 is hereby repealed.
Section 2. Preliminary Agenda of Council Meeting. The Public shall be notified of the preliminary agenda for the forthcoming Council meeting by posting a copy of the agenda in the following public places in the City at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance of the meeting:
1. City Hall
2. Pierce County Library System – University Place Branch
Section 3. Public Hearing Notices. Except where a specific means of notifying the public of a public hearing is otherwise provided by State law or City ordinance, notice of upcoming public hearing before the City Council or the City’s Boards and Commissions shall be given by publication of a notice containing the time, place, date, subject, and body before whom the hearing is to be held, in the City’s official newspaper, at least five (5) days before the date set for the hearing.
Section 4. Duties of City Clerk. The City Clerk is directed to publish notices and post agendas as required by this Resolution.
